Mirogoj Cemetery, Zagreb, Croatia
We spent a cloudy summer day wandering in Mirogoj Cemetery, on the outskirts of Zagreb, Croatia. Our guidebook called it one of the most beautiful cemeteries in Europe. We decided to make a detour since the weather wasn't cooperating with our original plan (mostly beach-basting). We were struck by its beauty, by the ornateness and variety of the grave-sites there, and also by the variety of religion and ethnicity of those buried there.

As a person living in Zagreb from birth, I tend to go to Mirogoj as often as I can, because it gives you a pleasure of a peace in mind. And I know a lot of people who do the same. Besides, there are numerous graves of some of the most important people in a long and exciting Croatian history as well, including politicians, writers, musicians, philosophers, soldiers and sportsmen (for example famous Croatian NBA player Drazen Petrovic rests here)...
To cut a long story short, thanks a lot, Sarah Beth, for this great photos. If you ever come here again, don’t be a stranger...
Best wishes,
Tony (toncibut@yahoo.com)
